The FRIENDS were founded in 2018 by Joy of Movement dancers as a peer-led support group. In 2024, the FRIENDS leadership chose to transfer organizational responsibilities to the Joy of Movement. The FRIENDS group is supported by the American Parkinson Disease Association, Missouri Chapter.

The FRIENDS usually meet every fourth Friday, from 1:30PM until 3:30PM at Chatham United Methodist Church, 104 W. Chestnut St., Chatham. Meeting dates and locations may vary . For this reason, it is vital that FRIENDS register for each meeting.

There is no charge for attendance, but advance registration is required for each meeting.
Many thanks to Chatham UMC for generously sharing their lovely church home with the FRIENDS! Generous grants from the Kloberdanz Trust Fund and the King's Daughters Organization of the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln help pay for the FRIENDS group.
Every FRIENDS meeting features time for formal learning--either a guest speaker or a high-quality video. The attendees then meet in small peer-led groups for discussion and fellowship, with separate groups for people living with PD and for care partners. And there is always time for informal socializing!
